Federal Constitutional Court visits the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom

From 24 to 26 November 2019, a delegation from the Federal Constitutional Court, headed by its President Prof. Dr. Dres. h. c. Andreas Voßkuhle and Vice-President Prof. Dr. Stephan Harbarth, LL.M., visited the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in London. President Lady Brenda Hale and other members of the Supreme Court welcomed the guests. Topics addressed in the working sessions included free speech in the age of social media, constitutional rights to social benefits, and the justiciability of issues relating to the separation of powers. In addition, the visit provided an opportunity for the Justices to discuss recent decisions by the two courts.
