Extension of measures to maintain the proper functioning of the Federal Constitutional Court until 15 May 2020

Press Release No. 30/2020 of 30 April 2020

The Federal Constitutional Court has proved to be fully functional even in times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the protective measures that have been introduced, several proceedings – in particular preliminary injunction proceedings concerning containment measures – have been concluded in March and April. However, given that the pandemic is still ongoing, the measures announced in Press Release No. 19a/2020 remain in force until 15 May 2020. An alternating two-shift system that ensures the continued functioning of the Court in cases of illness will continue in all areas of work. Additionally, external contact and the presence of staff at the Court remain restricted to a minimum and no trips to and visits from foreign courts will take place. In principle, the Court building will also remain closed to the public.
