Federal Constitutional Court publishes 2021 annual report

Press Release No. 14/2022 of 23 February 2022

Today the Federal Constitutional Court published its 2021 annual report, both as a print and a digital version. The report is available in German and English.

Its theme is the 70th anniversary of the Court. Besides presenting the anniversary celebrations and the ceremony marking the change of presidency, the annual report provides insights into the Court’s history with pictures from the past and present. Moreover, the new report features updated texts on the Court’s role and tasks, its Justices and staff members – including information about the Court’s 70-year history. It explains the Federal Constitutional Court’s role in the international legal order and the global community of constitutional courts. The report also describes national and international meetings with other institutions, which were mostly held online, and other events organised in 2021. The annual report summarises several important cases decided last year and incorporates diagrams of selected statistics on proceedings. It concludes with an outlook on cases the Court expects to decide in 2022.
