Visit of the Federal Constitutional Court to the Court of Justice of the European Union

A delegation from the Federal Constitutional Court headed by President Prof. Dr. Stephan Harbarth, LL.M. (Yale) and Vice-President Prof. Dr. Doris König visited the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in Luxembourg on 12 and 13 November 2023. The delegation was received by President Prof. Dr. Koen Lenaerts and other members of the CJEU. The topics addressed in the working sessions were ‘Obligations of the EU and its Member States under Art. 4 TEU – the concepts of national identity in the TEU and of constitutional identity in the Basic Law’, ‘Plurality of levels of protection and diverging values in the multilevel cooperation of European courts – perspectives and potential developments’ and ‘Precedence of EU law as an expression of the principle of equality?’.
