Delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic visits the Federal Constitutional Court

A delegation from the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, headed by its President, JUDr. Josef Baxa, visited the Federal Constitutional Court on 9 and 10 July 2024. The guests were received by President Prof. Dr. Stephan Harbarth, LL.M. (Yale), Vice-President Prof. Dr. Doris König and other members of the Federal Constitutional Court. The topics addressed in the working sessions included climate change, access requirements for constitutional court proceedings, and the relationship between domestic fundamental rights and the European Convention on Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. Also discussed was the consistency of judicial decisions and whether and to what extent a constitutional court is bound by its own case-law, including the role and importance of separate opinions.
